Hip-Hop Periodic Table

Hip-Hop Periodic Table

$30.00 USD

THIS IS FOR DESIGN ONLY...MUST BUY T-SHIRT SEPARATELY!  ONLY AVAILABLE IN ADULT SIZES!!!

This “Hip-Hop: Elements of a Culture” design presents hip-hop as a complete cultural ecosystem rather than simply a music genre. The artwork uses a periodic-table-inspired format to organize the traditional five foundations—MCing, DJing, Breaking, Graffiti, and Knowledge—then expands the concept into 20 additional elements representing the skills, industries, creativity, technology, and community that have grown around the culture. The five-element framework shown in the design aligns with a commonly recognized formulation of hip-hop’s foundations.

Noted Features

  • Five Foundations: MCing/Rapping (The Voice), DJing/Turntablism (The Music), Breaking/B-Boying/B-Girling (The Movement), Writing/Graffiti (The Visual Art), and Knowledge (The Foundation).
  • 25 total cultural elements, extending the foundations into Beatboxing, Production, Language/Slang, Fashion, Entrepreneurship, Street Knowledge, Community, Sound Systems & Gear, Media & Video, Culture Keepers, Dance Styles, Vocal Style, Freestyle, Lyrics & Wordplay, Recording, Mixing & Engineering, Events & Shows, Merch & Branding, Archiving History, and Respect.
  • Periodic-table presentation gives every element an atomic number, abbreviated symbol, element name, and cultural role.
  • “The Foundations” equation visually combines MC + DJ + BR + GR + KN = CULTURE, reinforcing that the individual disciplines work together.
  • Classic hip-hop imagery includes an MC with microphone, DJ and turntables, breaking, graffiti writing, vinyl records, spray cans, and urban architecture.
  • Strong street-art aesthetic with graffiti lettering, paint splashes, distressed textures, and bold outlined typography.
  • Black, white, blue, yellow and multicolor element panels create strong contrast and make the individual categories easy to distinguish.
  • Educational + artistic format: works as both a celebration of hip-hop and a quick-reference guide to the culture.
  • Closing message — “Create. Inspire. Respect. Keep It Real.” — reinforces creativity, cultural preservation, and respect for hip-hop’s foundations.
