Japanese Daruma Doll - Love

The Daruma doll is a traditional Japanese talisman symbolizing perseverance, good luck, and goal-setting. Modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, the Daruma is typically made of papier-mâché, is hollow and round, and designed to return to an upright position when tilted—reflecting the Japanese proverb "Nanakorobi yaoki" (七転び八起き), meaning "fall down seven times, get up eight."

Daruma dolls usually come in red, though other colors exist, and feature a bearded, stern face with blank white eyes.  Our daruma dolls feature a 3D life like design that can be used for visual goal setting reminder or displayed as a piece of art!!  

A Love Daruma (愛だるま, Ai Daruma) is a modern variation of the traditional Japanese Daruma doll that symbolizes love, compassion, and meaningful relationships. While traditional Daruma dolls are most commonly associated with perseverance and achieving personal goals, the Love Daruma is often chosen by those wishing to attract, strengthen, or celebrate love.

The kanji 愛 (ai), meaning "love," is typically displayed prominently on the front of the doll. Common uses include:

• Finding a romantic partner
• Strengthening an existing relationship or marriage
• Fostering self-love and emotional well-being
• Encouraging kindness, compassion, and harmonious relationships with family and friends

The Love Daruma represents the idea that lasting love grows through patience, dedication, and perseverance—the same enduring spirit embodied by all traditional Daruma dolls.

General Instructions for goal setting use:

• Choose a goal and fill in one eye while thinking about the goal.   
• Display the Daruma as a reminder until the goal is met.   
• Once the goal is achieved, they fill in the second eye as a sign of completion
• Retire or keep the doll as a reminder of success.

Care Instructions:

• DO NOT USE any liquid or powder cleaning/polish agents on the unfinished painted engraving.   
• To clean, use a duster (i.e. Swiffer) and gently wipe.
• If lacquer or epoxy coating is purchased, use a light detergent to wipe the surface clean.

Damage or Defects:

We take pride in our products and services and carefully inspect and package each order. There will be some burn damage due to the nature of our laser engraving process. If you suspect damage, please provide a brief description,  take pictures, and send an e-mail info@remixeddesigns.art within 48 hours from receipt.  If determined damaged or defective, we will gladly send you a replacement.
